School Holiday Kids Classes

Well, it is school holidays yet again and some certainly glorious weather in this part of the world, sunshine and cloudless blue sky. What lovely weather for school holidays. We are also fortunate up here to witness true beauty in nature at this time of the year; the amazing humpback whales making their way up to warmer waters on the Great Barrier Reef. We have been lucky enough to spot lots of whales passing through along with countless pods of beautiful bottle-nosed dolphins surfing and playing in the water on most days.
I am running some more of my craft classes for kids these holidays and have had a great time for the past two days teaching the box & gift card class as well as the clipboard with coordinating writing pad and gift card.
Next week I have another two classes running for 8-14 year olds: a pendant and gift box class on Monday and a Mini Album class on Wednesday. I still have a few spots left, so if you have children who maybe interested, contact me - jwstamps@tpg.com.au . There are more details in the left hand side of my blog.
Pendant Class - Monday, 7th July, 2014.

Mini Album Class - Wednesday, 9th July, 2014

What do you think? I hope the kids love them!

Joelle

What more can I say? Another year is over and Stampin' Up! has outdone themselves yet again! So many exciting things in this catty. I am still hyperventilating as I browse through each page.
A couple of things I am really loving about this catalogue are:
* The contents page to direct you to specific products.
* The NEW sentiments index - no longer will you be madly looking through every stamp set for that "perfect" sentiment, simply look in the back of the catalogue.
* MORE pages than ever before and the introduction of some brand new products such as Project Life - designed by Becky Higgins, Blendabilities - new alcohol based blending markers sold in a variety of Stampin' Up! colours which come packed in sets of three different shades.
* Not to mention LOTS of new stamp sets and gorgeous embellishments.
Ooooooooooo WAY TO EXCITING! If you'd like to get your hands on a hard copy of the new catalogue contact me (jwstamps@tpg.com.au). Catalogues are $5 each plus postage. Or for even more fun, put your name down so you can come along to my launch party in a few weeks time. We always have lots of fun checking out new products, strolling through the catty, eating, drinking and of course completing a make and take.
If you can't wait and NEED to see the catty just click on the link in the right hand sidebar or on the catalogue picture itself.
Yours with VERY excited inky claws,
Joelle

I'll be missing the mini milk carton!

Well, like I've said before, I always get sad at this time of year when so much of the Stampin' Up! catalogue retires. But it is also a happy time, as it means more new and exciting things are on their way.
Today I have got a cute little milk carton die to show you. This Sizzix die is retiring too, sadly. So I had to share one of my latest creations with you. A friend of mine was having her 40th birthday recently and her mum was desperately trying to organise a surprise party for her. Of course, how could I refuse to help out with the decorations? Below is a pickie of one of the treat boxes I made for the party along with another pressie which literally says 40 Sucks! The pun is on the word sucks as I created two bouquets of 40 chuppa-chup flowers. Unfortunately the photo is far from it's best, as I only remembered to take it on my way out the door to the party. My friend's favourite colour is purple her mum told me, so I stuck with that theme.

A Very Special Birthday

Recently I was asked to make a VERY special card for a VERY special lady. I was asked to make a 100th birthday card for a local lady for a surprise celebration. There were some special conditions of this card; it had to state "happy 100th birthday", it was to be a garden theme (as Carm loves her garden) and it needed space for approximately 70 people to write a message and sign their name. I felt so honoured to be asked to create this card. I was fortunate enough to be asked to make her 99th birthday card last year, and of course I couldn't knock back the opportunity to create her 100th card this year. This card was from all the ladies at Carm's local bowling club - yes, she still bowls, though I did read in the paper that she is "retiring" from bowling this year - not bad coming from a lady who has just turned 100! Let's hope we are all as fit and active as Carm when we reach 100!
So I created an "explosion" box card, I know this sounds like a bit of a risk for a 100th card, but really, the only "explosion" that occurs is that when you take the lid off, the card opens out!
100 Explosion Card Closed

.
Explosion card opened - There were several layers of this (12 in total) to allow all members to sign & add a comment.

Centre display

I used all Stampin' Up! Products to create this card (except for the silk & paper flowers on the lid). I mainly used Sale-a-bration items, purely because at the time it was Sale-a-bration and it fitted in so well with the garden theme. I could not post it at the time, as it would have spoilt the surprise. The products I used were: Petal Parade stamp set (SAB), Sweet Sorbet DSP, Secret Garden stamp set and framelits (retiring - boo hoo!), Papillion Potpurri stamp set, glue dots, Whisper White, Pistachio Pudding, Blushing Bride, Summer Starfruit & Calypso Coral cardstocks & ink pads, window sheets, SNAIL, Stampin' dimensionals, Score Pal, sticky strip, Number Dies (also retiring!), silver glitter cardstock, large & small butterfly punches and scallop tag punch (from the current occasions catalogue) and pearl basic jewels.
Hope you enjoy this creation!
Yours in inky claws,
Joelle
